THE EDIT · WESTERN ROMANCE
September 21, 2026 · By IndieWrist Editorial
Fringe, washed denim, weathered leather and silver-tone details are moving Western style away from costume and into a more refined fashion language for fall 2026.
The West, filtered through fashion
Western references have been building for several seasons, but fall 2026 makes them feel more polished. Ralph Lauren’s pre-fall collection leaned into New Mexico through burnished suede, hand-cut fringe, mineral tones and sculptural silver jewelry; Polo Ralph Lauren continued the story with Western belts, denim and fringed suede. Chloé approached the mood from a softer, folk-inspired direction with flowing checks, prairie references and romantic movement.
What makes the trend wearable is restraint. One fringed jacket with straight denim is enough. One tooled belt with a cream knit is enough. A silk scarf or small silver cuff can carry the mood without turning the outfit into a theme.
The right watch should feel lived-in
Western dressing works especially well with leather-strap watches because the materials share the same visual language. The Vintage Rivet Leather Strap Unisex Watch has the easiest workwear character, while the Vintage Roman Rivet Watch makes the wrist more graphic.
For the strongest vintage mood, the Vintage Multicolor Numeral Leather Cuff Watch works naturally beside denim, suede boots and an oversized belt buckle.
Western style feels modern when the clothes look collected, not coordinated.
Three formulas that work
City Western: dark denim, ivory knit, suede jacket, pointed boot and brown leather watch. Bohemian: printed silk scarf, long skirt, leather belt and cuff watch. Minimal: white shirt, straight jeans, brown boot and one vintage-style watch with almost no other jewelry.
If you like the Chloé side of the trend, keep the fabrics softer and the accessories lighter. If you prefer Ralph Lauren, lean into suede, belts and silver-tone jewelry. Either way, the watch should look as if it belongs to the outfit rather than as a separate luxury object.
